It’s official, Kiwi's want visitors to New Zealand to have a really, really good time.
I came across the travelers bible for touring New Zealand – the latest Lonely Planet Guide book and it tells of the welcoming warmth of New Zealand’s people.
“Despite the country’s growing profile on the international stage,” the guidebook says, “there’s one dimension of a trip to New Zealand that you probably haven’t counted on: the extent to which the average Kiwi will genuinely want you to have a really, really good time."
This is a great review from a guide book known for its trademark brutal honesty and opinion.
The review covers everything from the scenic side of New Zealand, to our reputation as an action-adventure destination.
“This is, after all, a nation that is so dedicated to doing odd things with bits of rubber and plastic that it invented bungy jumping, black-water rafting and zorbing,” says the book.
It educates on NZ’s anti-nuclear stand, our passion for rugby, and even fondness for sheep.
Perhaps the passion for sheep is a bit cheesy, but I am really proud that New Zealanders are recognised for our hospitality.
If I had visitors coming to New Zealand I too would want them to have a really, really good time.
So this is my mini weekend in Wellington itinerary –
• Can’t miss Te Papa, Our Place, New Zealand's National Museum
• Tour the Parliament Buildings and The Beehive
• Take the cable car up to the Botanical Gardens
• Walk down to the seals at Red Rocks
• Another walk along oriental Parade and up Mount Victoria
In between there would be lots of coffee drinking and people watching along Cuba Street and at any of the great cafés on the coastline around town.
If you had visitors this weekend, where would you take them and what would you do?
Have a choice weekend,
