Meet for a date with a difference

In a single person’s dating life, they reach the point where bars and clubs are no longer the places to meet people. What then?

Besides meeting over a bar, at work or at the gym, there are different ways of getting out and about and meeting people. Today we look at a couple of different ways, to get you inspired and back out there.

You needn't feel like a freak for having a profile on one (or even several) dating sites. There has been a general shift to the internet being a means of communication and a place for meeting people.

If you are not too keen on broadcasting your singledom throughout the vastness of the internet, try the old fashioned way.  Chat with friends, family, and friends of friends and do some serious networking to let them know who and what you're looking for in a relationship, and let the theory of six degrees of separation do the rest.

You may have heard of a clothes swap party, but what about one with people? Amongst your wider group of friends organize a mix and mingle. Everyone brings a single friend and hang out over food and drinks. Their single friend might not have made the cut for them, but is still an eligible candidate with potential for you or others.

Don’t have time for any of the above – looking for a quicker way to fit in your busy lifestyle? Speed dating! Speed dating is fun way to get out and meet lots of people – and quickly. The Choice, runs speed dating events in Wellington, with equal numbers of men and women, spending 7 minutes chatting with around a dozen members of the opposite sex. It’s a fun and fast way of meeting both men and women over a drink and nibbles.

Should speed dating sound like you, sign up to one of next events with The Choice. Check out their  great list of speed dating tips before you go along.

Even if none of the above ways initially produce the quick fix results you might be after, they are still fun ways of getting out there. And you know what they say – you always find something when you are not looking for it!

Do you have any great advice or events for meeting people?

Or have you tried speed dating or even a people swap? Let us know!

Have a great week,
