Are you one of the millions of people today that are asking the same question:
How to get confidence in yourself?
It seems that just as our lives are supposed to be getting better, richer and offering more opportunities than ever before there are all sorts of people that are just not able to take advantage of this, simply because they lack confidence.
It seems a crying shame that some folks are not living the lives that they want to because in some small but significant way they are scared of grabbing what they want.
In this short article I am going to hopefully share a couple of tricks that will, if not cure them, simply make life a little easier.
Before I get into the trickery let us just think about how we project ourselves. Do you stand all hunched over, with your eyes on the floor?
Other people react to us by taking in certain visual clues, if you look submissive then they will assume that you are and treat you accordingly.
Try standing up straight, roll your shoulders and let them settle wide open and slightly back. This will open up your chest and bring your head up. This is a classic leadership position, some may call it snooty but it will give you the outward appearance of a confident person.
Remember, others will take in this look and automatically assume that you are confident. This will help you to get confidence in yourself.
Now we have the look of a dominant and confident person lets try a couple of confidence boosting tricks to quieten the frightened little mouse inside.
Confidence trick number one:
Be someone else. If you lack confidence to be yourself then simply pretend to be someone else for a while. Visualise a person that you know who is confident and socially adept, this may be a friend, an acquaintance or even a celebrity.
Stand upright, close your eyes and think of all the things about them that you wish to be, really think about this and when you are ready take a small step forward. You are stepping into their shoes, taking on the personality and their confidence.
Confidence trick number two:
If there is someone in particular who seems to knock your confidence, perhaps a co-worker, a boss maybe or anybody that you come into contact with that saps your self-esteem, simply picture them naked wearing only funny sandals with grimy socks.
It is hard to be intimidated by this person now, only try not to smirk! They might ask you what's so funny.
Try to remember that other people are really not looking at you that hard, they are far too concerned with how they look to you and so relax, breathe deeply and put your best foot forward.
