He is a TV technician, he was a restaurateur, businessman, builder, realtor, professional poker player, fitness skills trainer, a chef and nearly lawyer. Ben Maran's most important job is father to his 2 children.
Ben has a particularly special relationship with his 14 year old daughter, who he is incredibly proud of and regards as his friend.
“Never give up on your kids. There is so much to learn and you always have to work harder to know them. They live in different times from us and they have new problems too. I try to motivate her, constantly raising the bar, to help her achieve the things she wants to do in life.”
Ben’s favourite time is simply hanging out with his daughter. They play badminton or soccer, cook, and love to travel together.
“We went to Disneyland recently and we were the first people in and the last people out.”
Life hasn’t always been like a fun park. Dealing with difficult times and challenging issues with his daughter, he has learnt not to over-talk things.
“Sometimes it is better not to talk about things too much and discuss about who is right or wrong. Just move on. Don’t dwell on things either. Focus on renewal,” he advises.
Ben mostly compares life to the mountains he has climbed.
“Life is like climbing mountains. You have to fight to the end. Being on your own, you have to learn everything yourself. It involves a lot of hard work. In the end, it is all worth it when you are able to enjoy life with the ones you love. This is what makes life exciting!”
